While Grandma & Grandpa were visiting, we took them out to tour the nearby Goldstone Deep Space Communications Center, operated by the NASA Deep Space Network. The girls and I had been before, but Jason was able to join us this time for the tour. It is a really interesting tour, albeit somewhat boring for Hazel and Stella, especially on their second time. They spent a good bit of their time playing on the floor, etc. but did pretty well considering. We got to hear all about the Mars Rovers, which are tracked continually by Goldstone, as well as many other missions. Stella enjoyed the museum section the most, as she is an aspiring astronaut. She got to sit inside a space shuttle tire, and saw a model of one of the shuttles. And of course, the big dish is indeed very impressive to see.
