While visiting the San Diego Botanical Gardens last June, the girls each got the chance to plant their own little jade plant in a small pot. They were put in our kitchen window once we got home, and to my delight have just thrived! I recently repotted them into one large pot, and cut the tops off of the 3 original plants in order to get them to branch out at the top. I have been very pleased with how they are doing- the 3 plant tops have rooted and started to leaf out, and I now have a number of new sprouts coming from the leaves I stuck in the dirt when I trimmed the plants back. It has really been fun to watch it grow. The kitchen window seems to be the perfect spot for it- not only because of the southern light streaming in, but also because I am able to be very attentive to it's needs for water since I spend a major portion of my day in that particular room!
When we move away from here, this will be one plant that will FOR SURE be going with me, no matter what I have to do!
