After a day of frenzied knitting (including the repair of the mistake I mentioned in an earlier post) I am proud to be moving on to the post-knitting steps of my project:
Washing...
Blocking...
And shopping for fabric. This proved to be tougher than I thought, especially since I do not know if this baby is a boy or a girl. I was completely unable to find anything like the orange and red gingham shown in the pattern illustrations, and was unhappy with ginghams that included white checks- due to the complete lack of white in the blanket. So I settled on a nice orange and red paisley print, which might border slightly on the "girly" side, but I really like it and think it will look great. The bold stripes keep it fully within the realm of masculinity, especially for a baby.
Can't wait to see the finished product! It looks great so far.
