swimming lessons

On Monday we started what I am sure will prove to be a very crazy 2 weeks. All 3 of the girls are in swimming lessons at the local pool. They are every day for 2 weeks. We started out with Daisy in level 3, Hazel in 2 and Stella in 1. Before Monday's lessons were over, we had moved Hazel up to level 3 and Stella back down to the "Mommy & Me" class. So, we have to be at the pool at 8:30 for Daisy & Hazel's class (30 minutes) and then leave and come back at 11 for Stella's class. They are talking about possibly moving Daisy up by week's end, which will require an 8 am arrival time(!)

Daisy and Hazel are doing really well and loving their class. I'm sure they will learn lots during these next weeks. Stella, on the other hand, freaked out and completely lost it when I tried to get her to do the level 1 class, which meant getting in the pool without me AND without any sort of flotation device. The other kids were happy as clams to be hanging on to the side of the pool, but Stella wanted none of it. I of course do not want to traumatize her, leaving her forever petrified fo going in the water, so I moved her to the class where I get in the water with her. This went OK the first day, but today we started putting them under the water just a bit- and she had a similar reaction to that of the first day of class.

So, we will see what the rest of the week holds for her. I am not going to give up- I really want to help her get past this fear and enjoy the water. I am glad for the chance to get in the pool myself every day, as it is well over 100 degrees outside and I am sweating in places I didn't know I had. Babies sure do generate a lot of extra body heat from in there!!
