Some of you may remember me talking about Isabel, the daughter of an online friend, a while back. After a terrible scare and hospitalization (thinking she had Aplastic Anemia), she had been enjoying a 3 month period of normalcy at home and thinking she was really going to be OK.
She is back in the hospital again. They went for routine testing to make sure her platelet levels were all still normal and everything is bad. VERY bad. She now has a confirmed diagnosis of Leukemia. ALL to be specific. She is in the hospital having every test and procedure imaginable, and preparing for a 2 year course of treatment including chemotherapy.
Her 5th birthday is today. She is getting a chest tube put in tomorrow. This whole thing just really, really sucks.
The website is here. I'm sure there will be updates soon and fundraising efforts if you are interested in following her story. I am lighting a candle in her honor today, and will spend some time talking to my girls about what we can do to help Isabel and her family in some small way. I am so thankful for their health. And keenly aware now at how quickly it can be ripped away from them.
I'm so sorry for that family and the poor little girl. What an awful thing for everyone involved to have to go through :-(
ReplyDeleteI HAVE PRAYED FOR HER AND HER FAMILY AND AM GOING TO SEND A EMAIL TO OUR PRAYER TEAM OF ABOUT 100 PEOPLE. MOM & I WERE TALKING RECENTLY ABOUT HOW THANKFUL TO GOD WE ARE THAT WE HAVE EIGHT CHILDREN AND TEN GRANDCHILDREN (#11 ON THE WAY) AND ALL ARE HEALTHY. WE HAVE SO MUCH TO BE GRATEFUL FOR. YOU ALL ARE PRICELESS TREASURES TO US! POPS
