challenge: sewing area

My poor sewing area. It is a dumping grounds. It is strewn with unfinished projects, items in need of mending, leftover scraps from finished projects, and supplies not put away properly. It looks bad and it is not an inviting environment for me to work in. What's worse- it is within view of the front door and it shares space with our dining room table, so I'm sure it makes a terrible impression on anyone who enters our home. I know that if I get it cleaned up and organized once and for all, I will be able to sew more often and enjoy my time there, not to mention feeling more proud of our home.

So this is the project for the week! I plan to clear the work surface, work through the mending that has been sitting for ages, fold and store the fabric and other supplies laying about, and organize the drawers in the desk so things can be put away neatly. I plan to reward myself by buying a new cover for the ironing board to replace the ratty piece of disintegrating fabric that is covering it now (and then proceed to store the ironing board in the closet where it
belongs. Ahem.)

And an update on the computer desk: it still looks great (could use a little dusting, but the clutter has stayed away) and once the sewing area is finished I'll be making dust covers for my scanner and printer (as well as the sewing machine itself). That will be much better than the sheet covering them right now.

  1. You will be *so* happy when it's complete. I can't wait to see all the finished projects after your area is clean!
