It has been one month since we started doing Weight Watchers and walking several times a week, and I have lost 10 pounds! I am actually a bit surprised at that because I have not done the best at counting my points (mainly because I forget). But I think for me, the biggest things have been learning portion control and adding extra exercise into my schedule. I have always been a big one for having seconds (and thirds, LOL) at meals, especially dinner. And I've always been big on desserts too- with large portions or going back for more. So just keeping an eye on having a regular sized portion is doing a lot for me. Add in the walking and I'll be back to my normal size in no time!
Honestly I am really thrilled about getting in the walking habit more than anything else. I've often thought it would be good to walk regularly but have never done it. Having a buddy to meet with for this has made THE difference. And the kids look forward to it too, so I have extra motivation to be there (what would you choose: an hour of walking and chatting even if you didn't really feel like getting out the door that day, OR hours and hours of whining and complaining that "We didn't get to see our friends today! Waaaaahhhhh!") And surprisingly enough, I am starting to miss it on the days we don't go. So I am much more motivated to go on my own. I went to the gym Sunday afternoon and found that I was the only one there- so I got to pick the TV channel and everything! That hour went by very quickly and I had a great walk with a little jogging thrown in too. It feels great to get some time to myself and be getting in shape too!
yay jennifer! i'm so happy for you! i haven't been following the 'plan' much these days either but i am conscious of what i eat & how much. i'm glad that you are able to meet with a friend to walk, it really does make it nicer. good job mama!!
