it's my party and i'll cry if i want to

I am 33 today. I have felt no particular love or hate for birthdays in recent years. And this year is no different, really. I was not dreading it or looking forward to it- it just sort of came. And now I am crabby. We have had a long few days with several kids wanting to stay up extra late, Jason working looooong hours, and me not feeling like getting much done. So I suppose it is just coincidence that my birthday is here now too, but I am associating it with my grumpiness anyway.

I wasn't planning to do anything special at all, and this afternoon I have to drive to Barstow to have stitches removed from the dog's butt so I won't have time to cook anyway. But Jason convinced me to cook a nice dinner and make carrot cake (my favorite) tomorrow night, by telling me that there is a present. We don't usually buy presents so I was not expecting anything, but now I am a little bit excited about having a birthday again :) I really have been wanting carrot cake anyway. So that's that. And he cooked me breakfast this morning and was able to be here long enough to let me take a nice long shower before he went to work, so that was a gift in itself! I also got some wonderful gifts from my parents last week (Daisy got her birthday package and it had mine in it too- so I opened them early!) and I'll post about them in a day or two.

I'll leave you with a picture I dug out of myself- I think I was about a year old. Last year I posted a picture from my birth, so I thought it would be fun to see an older one this time. Next year I will try to dig out actual birthday party pictures if I can find them.

I hope everyone has a great day, and I hope mine gets better and better. Stella taking a nap today would be about the best gift anyone could give me.

Off for my second cup of birthday coffee- before I fall asleep myself!

  2. I'm hoping your day improves (dog butt stitches - there's nowhere to go but up from there, right?!). Hugs for the birthday girl!
