more tie dye
Who would ever have thought that the jumbled mess in the above picture would yield this:
I love this art form. It is so experimental, so much fun.
These sheets are a present for my niece Ava's 5th birthday. (Sorry they are a few days late, Ava! Hopefully they were worth the wait.) The top sheet has all different random circular shapes, made by rubber banding different sized sections of the sheet. I used foil and plastic bags to keep the 2 colors from getting on each other too much. The fitted sheet is just a basic spiral, although it is a bit square-ish because of the big flat fork I used to twist it up with. It also has a bit more white in it than I usually like in my designs (cotton sheets soak up a LOT of dye!) But with the top sheet having very little white, I think they are going to look perfect together on her bed.
And then there's the pillowcase. My first attempt at making a heart-shaped tie, and I am quite pleased with it. The note I sent along with these told Ava she could think about how much we love her when she lays her head on this heart pillow at night. Awwwwwww. That's not too mushy for a 5 year old, is it?
