what we'll miss
The big skies. This is the view from our back patio. We've seen some gorgeous sunrises and sunsets here- loads of color. And the absence of tall trees makes it all so panoramic.
Low humidity. Non-existent, really. Although my skin and nasal passages have suffered, I have been able to salvage many a left-open box of crackers and cereal due to the dryness of the air. And I haven't had to scrub mildew out of the shower one single time in the 2 1/2 years we've been here, because it can't even grow in air this dry.
Mosquito-free zone. See my arm? No bites. That's because mosquitoes don't exist here- too dry. Back in Georgia (and growing up in Minnesota), I am the entrée of the day during the summer. Sweet blood or something like that.
So there are a few things I'll miss about the desert...

Why Leave?
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I love that shot from your back yard. When I looked at I felt a weight lift off of me. It brought me back to every book I've ever read with a desert background or writings (most recently On the Road- Jack Kerouac). Since I've never been to the desert literary visuals are neat; a personal picture from a great friend is even better! I bet you guys will have to go back for visits.

P.S. you are a great blogger (I've never tried). Chris is trying a bit- mostly here and there to update on the new brew pub!
