And the best part about getting a new freezer? The massive box that the freezer came in!
While the kids enjoy their new spaceship/race car/fort/jail/tent/wild animal cage, I am thinking of all the things I want to put in the freezer. I'll be watching the sale papers now for meat and other freezable things when they go on sale, baking cookies in large batches (with the convection oven! 3 pans at a time!) to freeze, and of course, freezer jam. Ohhhhh yeah.
PEACHES!!!! OMGosh peaches are so easy to freeze and SO good for so many recipes!
ReplyDeleteCookie dough!!! Just portion into 1 cookie size freeze on the pan and then dump in a freezer bag. Fresh baked cookies anytime!!!!
ReplyDeleteDidn't know if you or your blog buddies were familiar with Angle Food Ministeries. It's a great way to stock your NEW freezer and save money. Here's the site.

Hi! I have been an active reader of your blog for montsh now. I check it everyday. I love your posts. The pictures of your kids are so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet you are thrilled with your new freezer. You can fill it up with tons of yummy things!
If you don't already have one, I suggest a FoodSaver vacuum sealer. Buy the best one you can. I think ours was about $150 on sale. But, we have saved that many times over. We buy our meat in the family packs because it's cheaper and then just divide and freeze. Every now and then we find an old steak that got pushed to the bottom and it's good as new. I also froze about 20bags of green beans from the garden. I found a lot of help on www.pickyourown.org. Have fun filling it up.
