day at the fair

Last week I got the rare privilege of spending an entire day with just the 2 oldest kids. Daisy & Hazel were invited to go to the Georgia National Fair with some friends, and then Jason offered to take the day off and stay home with Stella & Lyle so I could go along. What a great guy!

We went and spent the Entire. Day. They were running a special where you got unlimited midway rides for $15, and we made sure we got the full benefit out of that armband, let me tell you. It was so much fun to just let everyone go on as many rides as they wanted (sometimes the same one over and over again) without having to worry about buying tickets and doling them out, and without having to say "No"! I have to say too that it was such a wonderful feeling to be out in a place like that and not have to be looking around for the little ones every few seconds, or carrying anyone on my back. And Daisy & Hazel didn't have to think about what the little kids needed or wanted- just what THEY wanted to do. That is something they don't get the luxury of very often.

We did see some animals too, although the rides will definitely be what sticks in their heads the most, I am sure. We saw several different types of cattle, some ponies, sheep, and baby chicks. And then we went back to the rides. We ate VERY expensive food (and kept it all down- hooray!) and laughed so much. What a fantastic day!

Thanks again to Stephanie, Taylor, and Haley for inviting us to join them. We can't wait for next year!
