dining room progress
We got the primer put up on Friday, with all available painters working hard! We used a tinted primer so that we wouldn't have to do more than one coat of the actual paint. Daisy and I finished the actual paint on Sunday with a little help from Hazel, but I didn't get any pictures from that day.
We still have a ways to go before we finish this room, but it is looking so different and everyone is excited. (Click here and here to see what the dining room looked like when we bought the house) We have touching up to fix our messy edges, and we'll also be repainting the trim and cabinets in white since they are pretty chipped and dinged up.
We are really happy with the finished color of the walls and ceiling though, and now we get to start putting up some decorative stuff to tie everything together. We got globes for the ceiling fan, which really stands out nicely now that the ceiling is painted. I really like the blades with the ridges in them to match the beadboard walls.
The corner cabinets look great too, now that there is a little contrast between them and the walls. I'm not sure yet but I think we might paint the inside of them as well, but we'll wait to see what color might be best after we get some more stuff in the room.
This shot shows the black walls in the hallway, which we love. I want to have black accents in the dining room to tie that in- probably a black curtain rod and some frames, etc. on the walls- and I plan to do some additional curtain panels on the outside of the red ones with some black and red and green to tie everything together. We'll see how it all changes and develops as we find things to hang on the walls.
