trampoline campout

Last night we decided to sleep under the stars on our trampoline. It was a gorgeous clear night, and a very comfortable temperature. So we grabbed all the sleeping bags, pillows and stuffed animals we needed, as well as the dogs, and got ourselves tucked in to look at stars and drift of breathing the nice fresh air (we are already tired of having the AC on 24-7).

We had a nice time looking at the stars, and once we got everyone settled- (Stella and Georgia took a little extra time) we all went to sleep easily.

We found one major flaw in our little plan though: slippery sleeping bags on a smooth surface which sinks down in the center. Or, ending up in a pile in the middle of the trampoline no matter how hard we tried to avoid it. Ah well, we love each other, so we tried not to get mad when we got kicked by someone trying to straighten their bunched-up legs out.

We woke up with the sun, or at least Stella did, and it wasn't long before everyone was up. Georgia emerged from her warm nest in Jason's sleeping bag, and proceeded with her favorite morning greeting: romping around a bed licking sleeping people in the face to wake them! Chloe was the last one to emerge- she is generally a late riser along with Hazel, and had spent the night at the bottom of Hazel's bag. 6:30 is a bit earlier than either of them is used to being up!

We spent a little time snuggling and jumping before going inside for breakfast. It was a rare overcast morning and the sun wasn't out to heat us up too quickly. A fun way to wake up on a weekend morning!

  2. Wow...that is fun. I slept on a trampoline once...slumber party 1992...only comfortable spot left at my bestfriend's sister party and I was her consolation guest.

  3. Oh my goodness, how much fun and what a great idea! When my sister and I were growing up in Sacramento, we would often drag a mattress out to the backyard to sleep under the stars in the summer. Those hot days always meant lovely cool nights and it was so much fun to just sleep out in the open, no tent or anything! Looks like your family is making some great summertime backyard camping memories, too! Much love to all of you!
