sand and water play!

Camping on the beach was so much fun! The girls got lots of time to explore, looking for shells and rocks and building things (and burying themselvees!) in the sand. Walking was more of an effort for Jason and I than we remembered- it is a workout to walk on loose sand!! Everything was just so beautiful though and we enjoyed being near the water again.

We got to see lots of sea gulls and other birds, including pelicans diving into the water for fish. There were lots and lots of surfers too, which were great fun to watch!

Stella was not too sure of the water, and was happy to stay far away from it. I got her to come down with me and get her toes wet, but that is about all she was interested in. The sand was much more appealing to her!

The beach was nice and clean, with lots of smooth round rocks along the water in most areas other than the designated swim section. We saw lots of shells and remains of various critters along the sand, as well as lots of seaweed. It's always fun to explore that stuff and talk about the animals that live in the ocean. We also saw a good number of bees on the sand, and Jason even managed to step on one and get a sting on the bottom of his foot. Fortunately none of the girls got stung.

As usual, we took lots of pictures! Here are a few of them.
