nesting

Well, you won't see a lot of scrubbing going on at my house during nesting. I've never been Suzy Homemaker (I know that comes as a big shock to some of you out there in internet land). I am trying to keep up with laundry and basic cleaning, and the baby stuff is all out and washed, folded, put away, etc. But when I am 2 weeks from my due date I don't ever feel the urge to scrub the kitchen floor or the bathtub. It just doesn't happen.

Instead I am making stuff. I've already been posting some of it here, and it just keeps on. I have another soaker done for the baby, this time a soaker sack- which will make nighttime changes during the newborn phase easy as pie. I used up some mix and match yarn I had on hand and got this wonderful crazy colored thing, but it is softer than all get-out and lines right up with my philosophy of "the more color, the better". The pattern is here if anyone is interested, and this was knit with Treliske Organic Merino, hand dyed with Kool Aid (thus making it very non-organic ultimately) and held double (2 strands held together during knitting).

I am also making a few items for the charity auction for Isabel, which has gotten it's start this weekend. More items will be added regularly, so check back often. I stuck a soaker up there, along with a gnome toy, and there will be dishcloths and tooth fairy pockets soon.

Sewing for Halloween is coming along- Daisy's dress is making progress (it now has the tulle overskirt attached to the bodice and soon the taffeta underskirt will be in place as well) and we got fabric bought and washed and ready to pin/cut for Stella's munchkin dress this week. She is very excited! I woul dlike to have the dresses sewn before my due date, so that nothing will be holding me up from having a nice relaxed birth. We can work on the accessory items during the month of October (wand, crown, Munchkin shoes, etc.)

  1. Hum..so I can just add the item onto the page myself? There's a link for that...but it seems too easy to be true. Let me know how it works after you get your donation item done....Love the colors! What an interesting idea this soaker bag. The only other one I've seen was closed off at the bottom....and pretty easy I'm sure. I've got a skirt I knited up once made of wool tht could sort of do the same thing, but doesn't have that nice ribbing at the top.

  2. They are having a few bugs getting things up and running it seems. Not sure if we will be able to add our own items or if they are going to keep that for one or two people to do. They said they have tons of stuff to put up though, once the bugs are worked out.
