presents

Around here we do 3 gifts for each person at Christmas: one thing to wear, one thing to read, and one thing to play with. The kids get a few stocking stuffers in addition to that, but we decided several years ago to limit the actual gifts to 3 each, in order to keep from going overboard and accumulating way too much STUFF. We really enjoy doing it this way and so do the kids! Plus we can always count on the grandparents to get more than enough so I doubt the kids ever come away feeling deprived :)

So, I don't have pictures with all the kids' gifts yet but here is what my loving family got for ME! :)

To wear, I got some new Argyle socks. Do my feet look happy or what?! These are very soft and warm. I got another pair like this in different colors and also a pair with just light brown and cream colored flecks. Yay! Now I can toss a few holey pairs that I've had for years and years.

To read, I got a cute little book of cocktail recipes, all listed in alphabetical order and cross referenced by ingredients and everything. Very handy. I accused Jason of buying this for himself and giving it to me, but really and truthfully we will both use it and it is a good addition to our cookbook collection. Now I just need a nice set of Martini glasses!

And to play with, I got a new Ice Cream Maker for my KitchenAid mixer. It's positively a dream! We have already put 2 batches of ice cream through with great success. And it is infinitely better than the hassle of ice and rock salt and cleaning out the big dinosaur of a maker I had been using. You just store the bowl in the freezer and pour your chilled ice cream batter in, and Voila! Now my dream of eating ice cream every single day for the rest of my life can become a reality. Ahhhhhhhhhh. All hail the KitchenAid and her wondrous attachments! Next on the acquisition list: The Pasta Maker. Oh my.

Oh! I almost forgot- the bonus gift that went along with the ice cream maker: the Scoop, in pale pink to match my mixer (for Breast Cancer Awareness.)

I'll post about the girls and Jason's gifts as soon as I get some pictures taken.
