playsilks

playsilks2

I dyed some playsilks to give our nephew, Brock, for his first birthday.

I was able to get them undyed for about a third the price I usually see them for, and it was an easy project to get them dyed up. I used Kool-Aid and Wilton's icing colors to dye them and they turned out great! This is a great gift for girls or boys, and something that kids will play with for a long time (I see any one of my 4 doing something with one almost every day) From capes and scarves to flags and curtains to clothing and doll blankets. The possibilities are endless! They encourage imaginative play and are just so soft and fun to hold.

And the reward is in the pictures we get when our friends and family enjoy the gifts we make- it's worth it! Thanks, Misty, for sending the pictures. I hope the boys get years and years of fun out of these!

  1. If I made a white dress with a shear-like skirt...could you dip dye it for me...so that the color is really intense at the bottom and sort of fades towards the top? What about other colors as a base, I mean other than white? I love your colors so much...awesome!

And yes- silk is a protein fiber like wool. So it takes KA or food coloring quite well.
