travel log: san francisco
We arrived at our friends' home in Redwood City in the late afternoon on Saturday. We visited and the kids played and had a ball exploring the yard and garden, and we ate some wonderful food together. They have a small place so we brought in our sleeping bags to crash on the floor, and the carpet felt truly wonderful after 2 nights on the hard ground outside!
We spent Sunday getting a little taste of San Francisco. We went down to Fisherman's Wharf and looked at sailboats and sea lions and had lunch. We drove through the city and saw some of the local sights- everyone was thoroughly impressed with the steep hills! Then we went to Golden Gate Park and visited the Japanese Tea Garden. Everyone had a wonderful time and we were all very tired when we got home. We shared another wonderful meal, did some laundry, and said goodnight. We were up and gone before first light Monday morning, headed for the Redwoods Parks. It was still very foggy as we crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, so we decided to wait until our return trip to stop and take pictures. But even though we came through after lunch time on the way back we still did not get to see the top of the bridge. It was beautiful anyway, and the girls will always remember crossing underneath the bridge on the pedestrian level to get to the lookout point since we were on the wrong side of the highway. It was great!
Here is another Pictobrowser of our photos. I hope this is working well for everyone. Again, if you prefer, you can see all the images and watch them in slideshow format on my San Francisco photoset on Flickr.
