happy accident
Daisy took this picture of herself on the trampoline. I love it so much, because it truly captures the thrill and excitement the kids feel when they jump. The movement in the picture flows so nicely- with a little blurring everywhere except in her smile. I love the colors and the shapes she captured, I love the polka dot shirt against the blue trampoline and green grass. I love it all. It makes me feel like I am right there on the trampoline beside her, hearing her laughter.
I think she was surprised at how strongly I responded to this image, because it was really just a happy accident- she did not know that she was composing a perfectly balanced shot and I don't think she intended to cut her face out of the picture. But that is part of what I love about photography- if you take chances and just experiment, trying things and pointing the camera in different directions- you never know what you might get. I think the one of the things that makes a good photographer is being able to spot a good image when you see it, even if it didn't come out how you intended. Even if people's heads are cut off or the picture is blurry. Learning to really see a photo on a different level- letting it speak to you and feeling the emotion and movement captured in the split second of time, is something I love sharing with my kids. I hope to have more of their photography to share here often in the coming weeks and months!

These are some of the best types of photos too! I love them! We gave C the camera on our cross country move and she got some of THE best shots! I've got a friend that works as a digital imagist for NASA that got started at Daisy's age with photography. Her mom did what you do... she let the experimentation and exploration flow, ya know. thanks for sharing, that actually brightened my day. :) T
