i can't help myself
It is nearly impossible for me to cut back my houseplants without sticking the cuttings in water. It matters not if I actually need any more plants- I just can't bring myself to throw them away. Maybe it is the pure fascination of watching them form roots before my very eyes- such an amazing display of growth. It also just seems like such a waste of a potential plant! And this particular plant is just really beautiful to me. I love the purple on the back side of the leaves.
So anyway, anyone local want this nicely rooted bunch of Zebrina Pendula cuttings? There's more where these came from... I also have a jade plant that is in need of a trim soon.

i have a plant that needs to be trimmed but i don;t know how. care yo share? where do you keep all of these lovely plants?
ReplyDeleteoh! oh! oh! pick me! pick me... both of those could come live at my house! pick me! Pick me!
ReplyDeleteRebecca- most houseplants are very easy to cut back- I usually just trim them when they are getting too long and are in the way, etc. It is also good for the plant because it encourages it to sprout new growth and fill in at the base of the plant, which is why I took these particular cuttings. I am working on getting a new plant (from cuttings) filled in nice and thick. So cutting back the stems once the plant is rooted well in the soil and has established itself really helps.
ReplyDeleteJust be sure to do a little here and there instead of chopping a plant back too drastically. It always needs a good set of healthy leaves to soak up sunlight while it is sending out new shoots.
And Sarah- you are welcome to these! I'll bring them on Wednesday if I don't see you before.
Beautiful. Sadly, my home is very dark and houseplants are not happy here. I had to give all of mine to my ILs. They grow happily on the sun porch there.
