day 1 & 2 in DC

Our first full day here we went to the National Zoo, but I did not bring my camera. Instead I opted to let the Daisy and Bea (our extra kid for this trip!) take photos, and I used the video camera. I am doing lots of short clips and have plans to put together a video of our whole trip once we are back, so I won't share any of that yet. The girls have lots of great pictures from the zoo I'm sure and they will put them up when they can.

Yesterday the kids and I ventured down to the Mall area to check out some museums. We found parking easily, thanks to the loaner GPS unit we got from one of Jason's co-workers- and can I just say, I am in LOVE with this thing. It is amazing to be able to drive around like I have a local resident riding with me, telling me where to go!

Our first stop was the National Gallery of Art, which was really awesome and I would have loved to spend hours inside, but Lyle was NOT impressed. And the high ceilings and open rooms REALLY made his yelling echo through the place. So we did not spend much time there. Next we went to the sculpture gardens, which everyone enjoyed very much.

Notice Lyle disposing of his trash over the back of the bench in that last picture. We quickly redirected him to a proper receptacle.

I'll post more later from the Museum of Natural History. Off to lunch!
