name that celebrity

Can you guess who this is?

Wait, I'll give you another one, in case you aren't sure.

We were absolutely amazed (albeit somewhat behind the times) to find pictures such as these when we were searching the internet to find our what happened to good ol' Steve from our reigning household favorite, Blue's Clues.

We own a number of videos from the Steve era of BC, and they have been in heavy rotation since Daisy was a toddler. We do not have cable, or any television for that matter, and so we do not usually have to subject ourselves to the newer episodes featuring "Joe" (can you tell we are NOT fans of Joe at all?). But this past week the girls had a DVD checked out from the library with a Joe episode on it, and instead of watching that, I decided I'd rather try to find out what Steve was up to these days.

Turns out he promptly produced a little Indie Rock album the year after he left the show (yes, this happened in 2003- I did say we were a bit behind) and proceeded to tour the nation, getting pretty great reviews along the way. We are surprised and sort of bewildered; it is just really difficult to imagine since we are so familiar with the Steve of BC fame.

And to add an even more bizarre spin to the whole thing, it seems Steve has now recorded a song for the forthcoming They Might Be Giants tribute album, "Hello, Radio". Being one of our all-time favorite bands, we are very sensitive to who would cover their songs and how they go about it. Upon listening, I actually think his version of their song, "Dead" is pretty good.
