gift sewing

I never did share the things I made for our niece, Trinity, before our trip to Flagstaff. I was quite fond of them so I made sure to get some good photos, so I'll post them now since I have nothing new to blog about today :)

First, we have the little reversible tote bag. I really, really, REALLY like the color combination on this set. That floral is from a remnant I found in a thrift shop, and this project used what I thought to be the very last tidbit of it. I have since found a whole other piece about the size of a sheet of paper, that was hiding in another spot. I was thrilled to find it! This definitely was the last of that red and white check though, which I will mis. It was also a thrifted remnant and it has been incorporated into a number of things over the last few years. The purple check is leftover from the costume sewing I did for the play a while back.

Tucked inside the bag were a matching doll sized pillow and quilt. Daisy helped me a bunch with this part- pinning the squares together while I sewed them. We made the pattern based on exactly how much of the red and floral fabrics we had left. The back of the quilt is just the purple check.

And these did not match the other things, but also inside the bag we put 3 of our little dolly diapers. Daisy cut these herself from recycled flannel and terry fabrics- mostly from recieving blankets and baby towels. These are just like the ones I made for Stella last year for her birthday. We have found them to fit almost every shape and size of small to medium doll and stuffed animal! This picture only has 2 because Trinity's dolly already was sporting the other one. They have velcro closures and very fancy scalloped stitch around the edges (ooh la la!)

I hope these are getting lots of use and love- I almost had a hard time parting with that little bag and quilt! But T seemed to be very pleased with them and that is what makes me happy :)
