shiny

Daisy lost a tooth yesterday. It was her twelfth baby tooth to come out. And here she is with her 12 gold dollars from the tooth fairy (and there on the table is her little tooth box- which is, by the way, too small to actually hold 12 gold dollars and still get the lid on properly.)

We have a very generous tooth fairy. We try to instill appreciation for this fact by discussing the measly sum Jason and I used to find under our own pillows when we were young and losing teeth, and even how much the kids' friends and cousins have reported getting. Our tooth fairy must have thought she was quite clever (and we certainly agreed!) when she gave Daisy one shiny gold dollar on her first visit, and then 2 on the second, and so on. But surely she knew there were twenty baby teeth in there, waiting to come out and be placed lovingly under a sleepy-headed pillow? And that we actually have multiple children with this many teeth in their heads? Surely she knew.

She must be rich.

Oh, and have you seen any of the new gold dollars? We were completely unaware of these new coins until Daisy came down the stairs this morning- they are beautiful! Hers have John Adams on the front, but I am especially partial to the Statue of Liberty on the tail side. Very nice. And they have lettering along the edges too- very unlike any of our other coins. Check them out!

  1. Congrates to Daisy! I must tell John about those coins. He's sure to want to collect them.

  2. Wow, oh my goodness! She'll have netted over $200 in tooth money by the time she's got all her grown up teeth! What a windfall - does she have a special savings account to put it in?

  4. We planned on the gold dollar thing too! But we will probably have a stingy fairy who only leaves a dollar at a time. But a gold dollar... that's still pretty good. I need to hunt down one of those new dollars. John would like to see that.

  6. ouch! Our tooth fairy isn't as generous... ours only gives 2 gold dollars per tooth...I think my kids might want to move in with you if they find out the CA tooth fairy is more generous than the PA one... or we could rack it up to the cost of living there vs. here. LOL

Need to go to bank to get more coins!
