glasses

hazel wearing her glasses

You might remember about a year ago, when Hazel got her glasses. She was quite excited about it at the time, but the fun wore off quickly when she got to the "getting used to them" part. Up until a few weeks ago, we could have counted on one hand all the hours she had actually worn them.

But then her friend, India got glasses and that made Hazel decide to give hers another shot. It only took her 2 days of wearing them for an hour and then taking a half-hour break (yes, she really used a timer!) to realize how very much they actually help her see. Now she wears them all day and we don't hear a single complaint. I'm sure all the compliments she gets are helpful too- the glasses look great on her and seem to fit her style so well, so people really take notice. It's about time to go have another eye exam again now, and we can be sure the money spent will be worth it- since she is actually wearing the glasses!

Here's to seeing the world clearly!

  1. I had a hard time being willing to wear my glasses all the time when I first got them, too - at about her age. For the first year or so, I tried to only wear them when I "needed them". It helped a lot to finally get a pair that were stylish - and Hazel's frames are SO cute! I feel naked without my glasses now!

  2. Hazel, you look so cute in your glasses. Isn't it more fun to see things clearer and brighter when you wear them? I love to read and would be so sad if I couldn't see good enough to enjoy that. I just think you and your friend India must be the coolest pair of friends when you are together with your stylish glasses. I love you!

  3. Oh my Hazel! Totally cute! And, I love the picture with your super cool green head band and funky galsses! I got new glasses last week and they are cool- but I would have liked something more like yours! I wanted to get really funky round "Carol Burnett" (ask your mom who she is) glasses because then I'd have real librarian glasses- Chris and the eye lady thought they were "too much"...shouldn't have listened to them, huh? Chris got new glasses the other week too! He looks younger I think ;)

Here's to seeing the world clearly through funky glasses!

  4. I bet you can use the same frames if she needed an updated prescription.

  6. Those glasses look GREAT on her! I got glasses in grade 4 and have been wearing them full time since. Fortunately glasses have come a long way since then and really are a fashion statement. Be proud beautiful Hazel!

  7. It's been a huge fight with Ophelia to keep her in her glasses. We have bought 6 pair since she started wearing them (2yrs?) and she can only put her hand on 2 right now. also i'm constantly taking them to be fixes and lenses put back into them. I cried when they told me she needed them because i knew it would be impossible to keep them on her face. she also gets teased alot but i feel that they complete her face more, like she was meant to wear them. I think the same goes for Hazel, she's so beautiful and the glasses put a very cute finishing touch on them. Good luck!
