in my spare time...

3 girls
Stella, Hazel, and Daisy- September 2003

I really need to get our photos into albums. I was looking for a photo in our computer files yesterday and ended up browsing through the old pictures for a long time. What fun it is to see how everyone has changed! I really want to be able to flip through an actual album of photos with the kids- I bet it would keep them occupied for hours and spark lots of questions and conversation. We have never been organized with them and (14 years later) I really regret that. So I am going to be thinking of a way to make this enormous project into something we can do in small chunks, and maybe within a year or so we can get them all printed, sorted, and into albums. Any suggestions are welcome!

  1. hey, i'm an old diaper pin member who's been lurking for a bit! :) anyway, i've been meaning to do this myself. i'm not so crafty or into scrapbooking, so i figured the easiest thing would be to get a book printed up (one for each year) from someplace like www.mpix.com

  3. i told chad just last month that i am behind on printing out my pictures this month. i haven't done it since easter. my goal is to start printing pictures out at the end of the month & putting them straight into the photo album as soon as i get them! we shall see!!!

why don't you make a photo book? i do this every year after the boys have a birthday of pictures just of them throughout the year. you could do one with just years, themes, many differnt ways you could catagory the book. shutterfly, snapfish are the two sites i know where you can make them.
wal-mart too & at a much cheapier price but i know you don't like this store.

i always use shutterfly. i like there backgrounds & all the differnt layouts you can choose from.

also, several of the blogs i look at they have talked about "blurb" - turning your blog into a book form.

    good luck & happy organzing!!!

  4. Though I am a total scrapbook fiend, and I'm very old school about it--handmade and all--for a super busy family like you are, I would recommend putting it together online and getting it printed out as a book. Creative Memories, the scrapbooking company I've purchased from for many, many years, has an option like this. You just upload your pictures, set them into premade pages (or make new pages for yourself), order the book, and it arrives at your door! 5. OK, so that link totally didn't work. Just go to http://creativememories.com, click on "Shop Products," then on "Digital Scrapbooking," and you should be set. Good luck!!

  6. I have the same problem with my digital pics. I realized a while back how much the kids would enjoy looking through an album (since I could never let them into the 7 or 8 odd boxes stuffed with pictures.) I had to spend over a week getting albums and sorting pics into order (hard) and getting them into the albums. Now I too have to tackle the digital age photos and it looks like a small fortune to get these printed. I think i will take the above advice for books. They could make neat gifts on holidays and bdays for the kids also i guess. If one day I find the time.
